Davenport Ranch
Davenport Ranch is a working Cow Calf ranch located approximately 70 miles NE of Lubbock Texas. This ranch has been in the family since the 1940's. We are the third generation to live and work on the ranch. The ranch straddles the Caprock and has both flat plains type of land and rough canyons. It is located at the head waters of the North Pease River and has an abundance of springs and natural water. Approximately 2/3 of the six section ranch is on top of the caprock and 1/3 off of the Caprock. There is also an abundance of Wildlife on the ranch. Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Quail, Turkey and Feral Hogs are seen on a daily basis. The ranch can carry approximately 120 cows and 20 horses on a year around basis. The original 10 section ranch was put together by my Grandfather RW Overstreet back in the 1940's and has always been a Cow Calf ranch. First running a Registered Simmental herd along with a Commercial Simmental herd. Now the base cow herd is Brangus with a few Brangus Baldys. Hereford and Brangus bulls are used to make a high percentage Brangus Baldy calf crop. The horses on the ranch are Registered Quarter Horses. They are raised in the roughest pastures on the ranch to facilitate a hardiness that can not be duplicated in any other way.
